Cristiano Ronaldo scores record breaking 10th international hat-trick to make it 58 hat-tricks in all competitions for club and country

(Football news) Cristiano Ronaldo just doesn't know how to stop being a goal machine. In Portugal's 5-0 World Cup qualifiers win against Luxembourg, Ronaldo netted his 10th hat-trick in Portugal colours. The treble was also his 58th career hat-trick in all competitions for club and country.

In the 8th minute of the game against Hungary, Ronaldo broke the deadlock by converting a penalty won by Bernardo Silva. 5 minutes later he won a spot kick himself which he unsurprisingly scored but had to be retaken because of an encroachment from Pepe. He kept his calm to slot home the next penalty as well.

Cristiano Ronaldo almost completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute when Joao Cancelo whipped a ball in from the right which Ronaldo exquisitely controlled in mid-air to then connect with a spectacular overhead kick which was saved by the keeper. The goal would've arguably been the best goal of the Portuguese icon's career if it had gone in. Ronaldo did get his hat-trick eventually in the 87th with a cool tap in.

Ronaldo broke the record of Sweden's Sven Rydell who had 9 hat-tricks. The striker has scored 58 hat-tricks in his illustrious career. Out of the 58 hat-tricks 1 was for Manchester United, 2 were as a Juventus player, 10 were at the international stage for Portugal and a mammoth 45 were as a Real Madrid player. Ronaldo makes a hat-trick look easy given that he has scored 58 of them. 8 of the 58 have been perfect hat-tricks which is 1 goal with each foot and 1 with the head. A feat which no other player is even close to achieving.

Ronaldo will now get his attention back to Manchester United who have a very difficult period with a challenging run of fixtures and a lean patch before the international break. Ronaldo will be hoping that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not bench him in any of the upcoming games like he did against Everton.
