Bundesliga: Eintracht Frankfurt shock Bayern to hand their first loss of the season as Dortmund close the gap to the top

(Football news) Bayern were handed their first defeat of the season as Leverkusen went level on points with them. Dortmund went back to winning after they suffered a shock defeat to Monchengladbach last week, Wolfsburg had the opportunity to close the gap back but their early flourish to the season is coming to an end

Bayern were handed a shock defeat at the hands of Frankfurt as the Bavarians lost their first match in all competitions. Bayern were at their usual dominant best from the get go as Leon Goretzka put the host ahead in the 29th minute but Frankfurt quickly equalised when Kostic’s corner was met by Hinteregger in the 32nd minute. The story of the second was the same as Bayern kept pegging at the goal but courtesy Kevin Trapp they kept Bayern from scoring, the sucker punch came in the 83 minute when Filip Kostic’s low shot went into the back of the net to hand Bayern their first loss. With this result Nagelsmann’s side stay on top of the table with 16 points but their rivals close in on them.

Dortmund won 2-1 against Augsburg in what was a very important match for them, Marco Rose’s side were still without their talisman Erling Haaland but got the added boast of Marco Reus in the playing XI. The first half began with Dortmund winning a penalty in the first 10 minutes which was cooly converted by Rapheal Guerrerio but Augsburg quickly equalised through Zeqiri in the 35th minute. The story of the second was all Dortmund as Brandt scored an important goal to give them a much needed victory to maintain pressure on Bayern. With this result Dortmund are in third place with 15 points but are only a point behind Bayern on top.

RB Leipzig won 3-0 against VFL Bochum in what was a dominant display from them, Nkunku continued his fine start to his season by scoring two more goals as Andre Silva too bagged his first goal for his club. With this result Leipzig climbed to 8th in the table with 10 points. Bayer Leverkusen continued their fine start to the season as they won 4-0 against Arminia, goals from Diaby, Demirbay and two from Patrick Schick meant that they go level on points with Bayern on top of the table with 16 points, who are second just on goal difference.
