Bundesliga: Bayern win their 10th successive Bundesliga

(Football news) Bayern Munich won their 10th successive Bundesliga title after they defeated Dortmund 3-1 in the Der Klassiker. Serge Gnabry put the defending champions ahead after just 15 minutes with a stunning volley from the edge of the penalty area. Robert Lewandowski then went on to score his 27 goal in 26 matches against Dortmund as he doubled their advantage with a close-range finish in the 34th minute after a defensive mistake. Dortmund put up a fight in the second half after Emre Can pulled one goal back from the penalty spot after 52 minutes and the game was put to bed when Jamal Musiala scored with seven minutes remaining to finish the game.

The title was Julian Nagelsmann first as Bayern coach but it continued an era of dominance that has not been seen before in Germany. No club had won more than three Bundesliga titles in a row before Bayern's run. Bayern have wrapped up the title with five games to spare after beating Dortmund for a second time this season  with the first, a 3-2 win, coming on Dec. 4. This marks a decade long dominance in German football, something that has not been witnessed in any other European Leagues. Robert Lewandowski is also breaking records as he has already scored 33 goals in 34 matches.

Bayern have lost only four times this season in the league, to Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Augsburg, Borussia Monchengladbach and VfL Bochum, but even with those unprecedented losses they have been comfortably ahead of Dortmund at the top of the table all season. The 2021-22 championship is Bayern's 32nd title in total, no other club in Germany even comes close to them with FC Nurnberg way back in second having won it on nine occasions and Dortmund have been champions eight times.

"Just for these moments… this is the best,, who became the first player to win 11 league titles. This is not boring. This is outstanding. The more you win, the greedier you get every year."said Thomas Muller

"The year wasn't that easy. That's why I'm happy that we crowned it with the championship title," said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann, who was drenched in beer by his players.

"It was important that we finished things off after being knocked out by Villarreal, Everyone wanted it, that's what's special in our team. said Bayern captain Manuel Neuer
