Bayern Munich announce Corentin Tolisso’s departure

(Football news) Bayern Munich have announced that midfielder Corentin Tolisso will leave the club after his current contract runs out. The Frenchman has had 5 trophy-laden years at Bavaria and he now leaves for a new challenge. Tolisso's next destination is still unknown but a lot of clubs are expected to fight for his services. Bayern Munich have their eyes set on RB Leipzig's Konrad Laimer as a replacement.

Tolisso joined Bayern Munich back in 2017 from Lyon for €41.5 million + €6 million in potential bonuses. It was a then record for most expensive sale by Lyon, most expensive purchase by Bayern and also the most expensive purchase by any Bundesliga club. He has won a total of 13 trophies with Bayern Munich including the UCL title in 2020. Tolisso has made only 72 appearances in all competitions as he has struggled to cement his place in the Bayern team under 3 different managers. Now at the age of 27, Tolisso will be looking to take his career to the next level. Arsenal is one of the clubs that could be interested in his services as they desperately need a midfielder.

Tolisso hasn't exactly been successful with Bayern Munich due to injuries and inconsistencies. The fact that the player doesn't have an offer from Bayern or any other club at the moment proves that. Tolisso's next move is going to be very crucial for his career path and he has to get it right. He is still 27 years of age and is yet to hit his prime. The midfielder's versatility is his biggest asset as he can defend and attack with the same capability. The role most suited for him would be a classic box to box role where he can dictate the play. It will take a very good coach to get the best out of the Frenchman.
