Bayern look to get back on track against Leverkusen, BVB face Köln

(Football news) Bayern Munich will be looking to end a run of four Bundelsiga matches without victory when they take on Bayer Leverkusen on Friday. Leverkusen, on the other hand have won only one of their seven Bundesliga matches so far this season, and head to Munich in 15th position in the table. The Bavarian giants after scoring 20 goals in their first four matches of the season. Bayern's title defence has significantly stuttered since, with three successive disappointing draws followed by a shock 1-0 defeat to Augsburg. The defeat to Augsburg left Bayern five points behind runaway leaders Union Berlin and three points behind arch rivals Borussia Dortmund ahead of the Bavarians' trip to the Signal Iduna Park next weekend.

Although there remains plenty of time to cut the deficits down, the pressure is building on Nagelsmann, especially after last season's defeat to Villarreal in the Champions League quarter-final. If he fails to win a fifth consecutive league game against a struggling Leverkusen, it would only give more reason to cause speculation surrounding his job security. Leverkusen have suffered a nightmarish start to the campaign by losing six of their opening seven matches including an embarrassing 4-3 defeat to third-tier side Elversberg in the DFB-Pokal cup but two draws have at least moved them outside of the relegation places.

Bayer Leverkusen possible starting lineup:

Borussia Dortmund will be hoping to go on top of the Bundesliga when they visit FC Koln on Saturday. The hosts will be hoping to get back to winning ways having only won one of their last six league games. On the other hand, Dortmund enjoyed a strong start to the season, winning five of their seven matches as they sit in second place, only two points behind league leaders Union Berlin. Bayern Munich's winless run of four games has allowed Dortmund to gain a three-point lead over their rivals ahead of the Der Klassiker. For FC Koln they are going well in their maiden Europa Conference League season with four points from two matches, and remain in the top half of the table. A positive result against Dortmund will be a step in the right direction.
