Ansu Fati leads Barcelona comeback to secure much needed 3 points against Valencia

(Football news) After a troubled beginning, Barcelona have restarted the season in the best possible fashion. The Blaugrana defeated Valencia 3-1 at the Camp Nou as they jumped to the 7th spot on the La Liga table.

Ronald Koeman set out his team in a 4-3-3 formation, surprisingly with Sergi Roberto at right back and Sergino Dest at right wing. Valencia took the lead inside 6 minutes as Jose Gaya scored after Barcelona failed to clear a corner. Ansu Fati equalised 7 minutes later on his first start since returning from injury. In the 41st minute, he won a penalty which Memphis Depay converted to give Barcelona the lead. Valencia came close to grabbing the equaliser multiple times in the second half. Their best chance was when Carlos Soler hit the post in the 53rd minute. Barcelona held on to their lead before Philippe Coutinho scored to secure the 3 points.

Ansu Fati had a clear and immediate impact in his first start of the season. Jordi Alba who was also returning from injury had a good game at left back. Sergio Aguero made his Barcelona debut as he was brought on for the last 5 minutes. With several injured players becoming available again Koeman looks to have gathered control once again because Valencia by no means is an easy opponent.

Sergino Dest had an excellent game at the right wing where he used his pace and ball control to exploit spaces. The American had a passing accuracy of 94% and also provided an assist in addition to creating 3 chances. Whether this is just a one time thing or Koeman has decided to use him as winger will be interesting to see.

The win is a perfect result for Barcelona as they look to get their first points in the UCL table against Dynamo Kiev. Their next La Liga game is the legendary El Clasico against Real Madrid. Wins in both the games can literally turn the fortunes of the Catalan club.
