AC Milan snap Inter’s unbeaten streak and new signings give Juve the win

(Football news) AC Milan produced a magnificent second half performance to comeback from goal down to win 2-1 against their city rivals. In the first half, Ivan Perisic put Inter in front at a raucous San Siro late in the first half, breaking Milan's resistance after their goalkeeper Mike Maignan pulled off two superb saves. However, Giroud had some other ideas, starting in the place of Milan's injured top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Frenchman nudged in an equaliser in the 75th minute before finding the bottom corner three minutes later to turn the game on its head.

Giroud was quickest to react when the deflected Brahim Diaz shot as he stretched at the back post to tap in a finish, and three minutes later he beautifully turned his marker in the box and coolly slotted in a calm finish. Theo Hernandez was sent off deep in stoppage time for a reckless tackle on Dumfries, but AC Milan did hang on for long to record their first Milan derby comeback win since February 2004. With this result the title race is wide open as Inter’s four point lead is now reduced to a point as both Napoli and AC Milan are just a point away from the leaders on 52 points as Inter are currently on 53 points but having played a match less compared to their title challengers.

"It's normal to be disappointed, we all know how important the derby is," Inzaghi said. "We lost undeservedly, but that is football. We need to analyse it calmly and see where we were lacking, because objectively speaking, we gave away practically nothing up to the first goal."

"I was a bit frustrated in the first half, like the whole team, because we didn't play well and we knew that, After the break we showed great team spirit. We are back! The road is still long. We are in the race, but there are a lot of games left to play and Inter remain on top" Giroud said.

Juventus continued their recent resurgence of form with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona. Serbia international Vlahovic, who joined Juve from Fiorentina in a deal worth up to 80 million euros opened the scoring with a perfectly weighted lob after 13 minutes. It was Vlahovic’s 18th goal of the season, drawing him level with Lazio's Ciro Immobile as the league's joint-top scorer, and he also came close to a second before halftime in an impressive debut. Things got even better for Massimiliano Allegri's side after the break when deadline day arrival Zakaria sprinted forward from midfield to hammer a shot into the bottom corner. Juventus are now two points above Atalanta into fourth place with 45 points, eight points behind leaders Inter Milan, while Verona are sitting in the top half of the table in ninth with 33 points.

Napoli beat struggling side Venezia 2-0 as they cut the lead to the top to just a point. In the second half, goals from Victor Osimhen and Andrea Petagna ensured that Luciano Spalletti's side took advantage of a slip-up by league leaders Inter Milan, who lost 2-1 to AC Milan on. Napoli are currently in second with 52 points, ahead of third-placed AC Milan on goal difference and one point behind champions Inter, who they are going to face next in Naples.

"Nobody thinks it will be easy, but I think that by all pulling in the same direction we can reach our objectives. We have a lot of (objectives), and one is to win the league. Step by step, with determination, we can do it," Osimhen said.
