Here’s why the tussle between Conte and Tuchel made things more entertaining

(Football news) On Sunday Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea drew 2-2 at Stamford Bridge. The match was very interesting in itself but the actual football was overshadowed by what happened on the touchline. Chelsea were leading 1-0 when Tottenham Hotspur pulled a goal back. Antonio Conte proceeded to celebrate the goal near Chelsea's dugout after which there was a tussle between him and Thomas Tuchel. After Chelsea regained the lead via Reece James, Thomas Tuchel ran past the Tottenham bench to celebrate the goal. When the managers shook hands after full time Tuchel didn't let go of Conte's hand which led to another scrap between the two managers.

After the game Tuchel said "I thought when we shake hands you looked into each other's eyes. He had a different opinion. It was not necessary but a lot of things were not necessary." He also said that there were no hard feelings between the pair and that they were fighting for their teams. While Conte refused to comment anything substantial after the game, he did put up an instagram story with a picture of Tuchel running beside him with a caption saying "Lucky I didn't see you…making you trip over would have been well deserved," with a few laughing emojis. The main reason for the scrap was that Tuchel thought that both Tottenham goals should not have stood as the first goal came after a foul on Kai Havertz and also was scored when Richarlison was offside. The second goal came after a free kick was not given to Chelsea when Christian Romero pulled Marc Cucurella's hair.

Tuchel did not hesitate in criticising VAR and referee Anthony Taylor who has been accused of favouring Chelsea's opponents in the past. Both the managers got a red card after full time and are likely to be handed some more punishments by the FA. Tuchel in particular could be set for a hefty fine and a lengthy ban for his straight forward comments on the referee and VAR. While the officials may not have liked what happened, football fans certainly enjoyed it. It was like the old school Premier League with managers showing their passion. It was certainly a throwback to the old days when touchline scraps between Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger with Jose Mourinho would be something which provided so much entertainment.

Liverpool and Manchester City have dominated English football for a long time now. The rivalry has been incredible in terms of the quality of football. The one drawback that football fans have expressed is that there seems to be too much niceness around it. All the great football rivalries in history have had some sort of bad blood which these two teams and these two managers in particular don't seem to have. Both Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp are seen praising each other all the team which most of the people consider boring. What happened between Tuchel and Conte certainly makes things more interesting at least for the viewers.
