(Cricket news) The festival of cricket, IPL is underway. Day two will have a double header, the first one will be between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. DC are in a bit of a pickle as they are without several key foreign players for the clash. Mumbai Indians on the other hand are expected to field their strongest XI led by the Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
Delhi don't even have enough players to fill the 4 foreign spots. This could give chances to young Indian players. The most prominent one is Under 19 World Cup winning captain Yash Dhull. The batter led India to the trophy before setting the Ranji Trophy stage on fire. His teammate Vicky Otswal could also be handed a debut. Mumbai Indians on the other hand might unleash Dewald Brevis also known as Baby AB. Tilak Varma is another youngster who is worth keeping an eye on.
The other match is between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, both of whom have two new IPL captains. RCB will be under the new leadership of Faf du Plessis who is expected to open the batting with Virat Kohli which will be a very interesting opening combination. On the other side will be the opening duo of new captain Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan. RCB will be without Josh Hazelwood and Glenn Maxwell while Jonny Bairstow will be unavailable for PBKS.
In the initial matches, the majority ofteams will not be at full strength but these matches will set the tone for the rest of the tournament. The depth of the teams will be tested and players who were selected as backups will get their chance very early on in the tournament. The format is new and different which makes it difficult to predict anything this early on.
