Cubarsí’s Contract Renewal Details

Although the specifics of Pau Cubarsí’s release clause have not been made public, FC Barcelona has stated that his contract will be renewed until June 30, 2029. In line with their new strategy of keeping important information secret from competitors, the club has signed the central defender, who is considered to be among the most promising players in the world, for the next four years without disclosing the release clause. Deco is aware that in order to safeguard the club’s most valuable assets, every element needs to be meticulously managed.

Sources claim that even though Cubarsí’s contract with Barcelona was extended by two years (it had previously been scheduled to expire in 2027), his release clause is still set at €500 million. This amount maintains his exit price from before the renewal and keeps him above the 1 billion euro threshold. This sum, according to the Catalan club, is too exorbitant and unaffordable for any team hoping to sign him. In addition, Cubarsí has repeatedly stated in public and private that his only goal is to succeed at Spotify Camp Nou.

The young Estanyol player’s contract extension is another example of the club’s dedication to developing La Masia potential. Since making his debut on that cold January 18, 2024, match against Unionistas in a Copa del Rey match at Salamanca, he has already made sixty appearances for the first squad at the age of just 18.

As a result, FC Barcelona’s athletic administration keeps taking aggressive measures to ensure the future of the team’s young players. Ronald Araujo (until 2031), Pedri and Gavi (until 2030), and Gerard Martín (until 2028) have all just had their contracts renewed by the club.

With his new contract through 2029, Cubarsí joins players like Fermín López. In line with customary procedures, Marc Bernal will also extend until the same year, when he turns 18, in May.

Barcelona has contracts with Alejandro Balde and Marc Casadó that expire in 2028, and it is anticipated that Lamine Yamal will sign a new deal with the team that will keep him there until 2030, beginning in July when he turns 18. As one of the biggest contracts in the club’s history is being negotiated, preliminary talks have already begun with his agent, Jorge Mendes. The forward is unquestionably committed to wearing the Barça jersey for many years to come.
