Yuzvendra Chahal eager to shine with the ball in comeback tour against New Zealand

(Cricket news) The New Zealand tour of India is set to get underway as the first T20 match is scheduled to be played today. With many regular players missing, there are still a few ones who can cause some trouble on the pitch. The match will take place in Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, out of the 19 ODI’s played, 12 of them have been won by the team batting second as it is the first T20 match to be played. Many IPL uncapped players have been included in the squad as they will be making their debuts, Rohit Sharma is leading the Indian side as Tim Southee will be leading the Blackcaps. Here are four players to watch out for from both the teams.

Martin Guptill

The gutsy batter has scored over 526 runs in 15 matches and could become the 11th person to do it on earth. Guptill also was in good form at the World Cup and will try to bring his charm at Jaipur. Guptill can show his experience while playing for the side as it will be a learning curve for the young players. His footwork and style has been mesmerizing to watch as he sends it straight for a six which is even more a remarkable feat. He needs 74 runs to become the first batter from the side to score more than 600 runs in T20 internationals in a season.

Ishq Sodhi

Ish Sodhi has been the leading wicket taker of the team in the format this year with 26 wickets in 14 matches. The spinner will lead the attack along with Michael Santner as they will try to beat the batters to it. He is the second highest wicket taker in the team after Tim Southee who has 107 wickets to his name and needs one more to become the second highest wicket taker of all time in T20. Last time these two sides met, Sodhi took 2 wickets while giving away 17 runs.

KL Rahul

With a mixture of elegance and power, KL Rahul has come a way since now he is the vice captain of the Indian team. He had scored 194 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup with three fifties as the other batters failed to give him a hand at the crease. It will be a test against New Zealand who have a good bowling line up and vice captain KL Rahul should take responsibility as he is India’s top batters in the format.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal was unexpectedly dropped from the side in the ICC T20 World Cup and will need to make a fighting comeback to the team. He will be leading the spin alongside Ravichandran Ashwin and both will be playing their 50th T20 international. Chahal needs 3 more wickets to overtake Jasprit Bumrah to become India’s leading wicket taker in the format, he has taken 63 wickets so far. Chahal last played a T20 match in July but his IPL stint will come to play as the pitch also looks to favour the bowlers.
