Women’s World Cup: India look to bounce back vs unbeaten West Indies

(Cricket news) After winning the opening game against Pakistan, India lost their 2nd match to host's New Zealand. Now the women in blue will look to bounce back against the West Indies who have won both their games so far. This match is very important for the Indian side looking at how the points table is shaping up.

India's possible playing XI:

Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Mithali Raj(c), Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh (wk), Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Pooja Vastrakar, Meghna Singh, Jhulan Goswami, Rajeshwari Gayakwad

Bench: Poonam Yadav, Taniya Bhatia, Yastika Bhatia, Renuka Singh

In Shafali Verma's absence India struggled to score runs at the top which should be enough to indicate that she needs to come back into the side. The entire batting unit needs to be much better than they have been. It may be wise if Mithali Raj promotes herself to number 3 and Deepti Sharma can bat lower down. The combination of the team looks to be fine but the batting needs to be better.

West Indies possible playing XI:

Deandra Dottin, Hayley Matthews, Kycia Knight, Stafanie Taylor (c), Shemaine Campbelle (wk), Chedean Nation, Chinelle Henry, Aaliyah Alleyne, Anisa Mohammed, Shakera Selman, Shamilia Connell

Bench: Rashada Williams, Afy Fletcher, Karishma Ramharack, Cherry Ann Fraser

The Windies have retained the same XI in both their games and there is nothing that needs to change. Anisa Mohammad who has been incredible in this tournament so far will be the key bowler. Hayley Matthews is the priced scalp as India need to dismiss her early at all costs.

Every World Cup game is important but how the team reacts after a loss sets the tone for the rest of the tournament. Harmanpreet Kaur's knock in the last game is good news only if she continues the form and it translates into a big innings. The bowlers have done their job well for India and the batters need to turn up before it's too late.
