West Indies defeat England Women at the ICC Women’s World Cup

(Cricket news) The England Women’s team succumbed to their second narrow defeat, this time to West Indies by 7 runs at the ICC Women’s World Cup in Dunedin. The match was a topsy-turvy encounter with Sophie Ecclestone putting up an impressive performance with the bat and ball, almost winning it for her team with a ninth wicket 61 run partnership with Thunder and Manchester Originals teammate Kate Cross.

It looked like England would manage to secure a win until Cross was run-out but Anisa Mohammed sealed a second victory for the West Indies in the competition. They posted a modest score of 225-6 with Sophie Ecclestone getting impressive figures of 3-20. The England Women’s team will play South Africa in their next match followed by India and they cannot afford to slip up if they hope to remain in the competition.
