WBBL: Jemimah and Harmanpreet lead Melbourne Renegades to victory over Hobart Hurricanes as Richa’s quickfire 29 goes in vain

(Cricket news) Indian trio Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh started for their respective teams in the WBBL game between Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes elected to bat first and Richa Ghosh walked in to bat at number 4. Ghosh usually doesn't get an opportunity to play that high up for India and she was also relieved of the wicketkeeping duties with captain Rachel Priest donning the gloves.

Ghosh scored 29 off just 14 balls to boost Hobart innings. She hit 2 boundaries and a maximum before being dismissed by her Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Harmanpreet Kaur was given 3 overs with the ball during which she dismissed Indian teammate Richa Ghosh and gave away only 20 runs.

In the field Ghosh ran out Renegades captain Sophie Molineux with a direct hit and took a catch to dismiss Evelyn Jones. Jemimah Rodrigues opened the innings for the Renegades and scored 33 off 34 balls, hitting 2 fours and a six to anchor the run chase before she was dismissed by Belinda Vakarewa.

Harmanpreet Kaur came onto bat when her side was going through a minor collapse. The Indian skipper took her time to settle in and fired in the last 2 overs to guide the Melbourne Renegades to a 6 wicket victory with 4 balls to spare.

Melbourne Renegades’ next game is against Adelaide Strikers where Rodrigues and Kaur should retain their place in the side after impressive performances. Richa Ghosh also had a good game with the willow and on the field. Dropping her in their next game against the Sydney Sixers wouldn't make any sense.
