Unbeaten Gujarat Titans take on the Sunriser Hyderabad in match no 21

(Cricket news) The new side GT are riding high on confidence after three victories in IPL 2022. On the other hand, SRH got their first victory over the weekend against CSK to get their season back on track. In the last match, Rahul Tewatia and Shubam Gill led GT to an unbelievable victory and as for SRH Abhishek Sharma’s blistering fifty made sure they got those crucial two points.

Titans have surprised the league with their unbelievable start as many experts doubted them even though the bowling attack looked strong with the likes of Mohammed Shami, Lockie Ferguson and Rashid Khan. With Shubman Gill firing up top, that concern doesn’t look like a very worrying sign for this franchise. The one area of concern for them is the opening combination with Matthew Wade who's struggling for runs at the top of the order, the management might want n to bring in Rahmanullah Gurbaz but it's unlikely they would make any changes and persist with this winning combination. Mohammed Shami will hold the key, as he has dismissed Kane Williamson four times already in this format of the game.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to try and pick up as many wins as they can and make winning a habit, if they are to qualify for the playoffs, they will need to start winning games regularly. Rahul Tripathi can be dangerous once he gets going, although he has been dismissed by Shami twice in seven games, he averages just 10 and strikes above 100. His main match up will be against Rashid Khan as he has struck at a strike rate of 141 against him. While Umran Malik has been hitting impressive speeds, his bowling line and length hasn’t been impressive, so the SRH management need to make a decision if they stick with or give Kartik Tyagi or Shreyas Gopal a game. Abhishek got the majority of the runs against CSK, but it will be interesting to see how he fares against quality pacers in the form of Shami and Ferguson.

Pitch and weather report: At the DY Patil stadium, they have largely produced moderate scores only. Taking the pace off the ball has been productive but with this contest being played under the lights completely and the trend of winning the toss and bowling will continue as the dew factor will come into play in the second innings. The temperature is going to hover around 32 degrees with no chance of rain.

Interesting facts:

  • Sunrisers have scored runs at 5.1 in the powerplay, the lowest for a team this season
  • Hardik Pandya is one six away from getting 100 sixes in the IPL
  • Rashid needs to strike two more wickets  for a total of 100 wickets in the IPL.
  • Tewatia has a strike rate of 143.7 against pacers but that strike rate drastically drops down to 101.34 against spinners
  • Shami is the only bowler to have dismissed Williamson three times in the IPL and only average 9.73 against him
