Sunrisers Hyderabad banking on Rashid Khan to fire in final three matches of IPL

(Cricket news) Rashid Khan has been the only player who has performed extremely well for Sunrisers Hyderabad this season in the Indian Premier League. With the team losing their 11th match to table toppers Chennai Super Kings, now they are almost out of the playoffs unless a miracle or the above teams suffer a heartbreaking losing streak which seems highly unlikely.

Rashid has been part of the Sunrisers since his IPL debut in 2017 and has always finished in the top ten wicket takers of the season. He has grabbed 89 wickets in 73 matches so far with the best economy in all of IPL history with a 6.24 followed by spin legend Anil Kumble  who comes second with 6.57. Rashid has managed to pick up a minimum of 17 wickets every season as Bhuvaneshwar Kumar being the only one who has taken more wickets in a season than him.

Jason Holder has been the only other bowler who has managed to give support to the leg spinner. Holder has nine wickets in five matches and is the only bowler other than Rashid who has taken more than five wickets this season which shows the condition of the bowlers in the team. Former orange cap holder Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has not been able to deliver this season as he has five wickets in nine matches.

The bowlers have failed the team this time around as the batters did a better job than them. Sunrisers have nothing to lose now and can play without worrying about the points, the youngsters will be getting a chance as the older players will be rested and Rashid Khan will already be prepared for the T20 World Cup. He is the star player in the Afghanistan team and one of the best bowlers in T20 format, he is currently ranked third in ICC T20 bowlers points.

Rashid has picked up 14 wickets this season in 11 matches while giving away 273 runs. He has given 30 plus runs in only three matches this season as his economy has been under 7 runs per over. Although his teammates have under performed this season as the team is bottom placed with only two wins with one win in each phase. The team will next play the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on 3rd October and the 2016 champion desperately needs a winning finish in UAE.

The Sunrisers have three matches left and Rashid has the chance to beat his personal best of 21 wickets in 2018. He will need 7 more wickets and is currently fourth placed in the race for the orange cap. With the playoffs starting from 10th october, Sunrisers will look to have a decent finish as they will look to avoid the bottom place.
