Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali having a stand out season in Test matches

(Cricket news) The Pakistan team is known to produce fast bowlers, they have a history of bowlers who have given batters sleepless nights with their pace and swing. This year, two fast bowlers have had a wicket spree in Test matches with 88 wickets shared between them in 32 innings. Pakistan has won 7 of their 9 tests with four of them resulting in an innings win this season.

Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali are the joint most successful pair in Tests this year along with Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel who have played 6 innings less than the Pakistani pair. Afridi and Ali are the most successful bowlers among the pacers as James Anderson and Ollie Robinson come second with 63 wickets in 29 innings so far. As of now, the England pacers have one more test before the end of this year and the Indian spinners have also got one more test against South Africa in the final week of december.

Imran Khan holds the record for the most Test wickets in a season by a Pakistani bowler when he took 62 wickets in 1982, although his record cannot be broken this year but is certainly a possibility now. Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Imran Khan are the leading wicket takers for Pakistan in test matches after them are a whole lot of spinners in the list. Pakistan now again has a leading pace attack as Afridi is only 21 while Hasan is 27 years old, while Afridi has played 21 matches and Hasan has played 17 both have shown rapid progress in the last 12 months.

Hasan Ali has taken 41 wickets in 15 innings this year, he recorded two consecutive five wicket hauls against South Africa in February and then did the same against Zimbabwe during April end may beginning. Hasan Ali and Axar Patel have the most five wicket hauls this year with five each. Shaheen Afridi has taken 47 wickets in 17 innings this year and his best performance came against the West Indies in which he took 18 wickets in two test matches.

Pakistan overall has had a great year in the sport as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan took the spotlight in T20 format, Afridi and Hasan have been the highlight in Test matches. Pakistan as of now will host the series against West Indies which will have 3 T20 and 3 ODI matches in the second week of December.
