Pakistan looking to end tour of Bangladesh with victory in Test series

(Cricket news) Pakistan is fresh off three victories in Bangladesh as the host is yet to record a victory in the series. Even though the three T20s were low scoring encounters, Pakistan were on top of all them and will now look to extend their winning streak onto the two Test matches. Bangladesh will miss Mahmudullah who had scored 2,914 runs in Test matches as he had announced his retirement from the game yesterday.

 

Pakistan has a strong batting line up as Fawad Alam has scored over 513 runs in 7 matches for the team this season and is followed by Azhar Ali who has scored 469 runs in 7 matches. Captain Babar Azam has been a run making machine for the team in both the formats as he has scored 317 runs in 6 matches.

 

Amongst the bowlers, Shaheen Afridi has been in terrific form as he has picked up 37 wickets which is the second most of the season just 1 behind Ravichandran Ashwin. Hasan Ali comes in third with 32 wickets as both of them have formed a successful duo so far. Spinner Nauman Ali has taken 19 wickets as the rest of the bowlers have taken less than 10 wickets.

 

The Bangladeshi batters have been led by captain Mominul Haque who has scored 489 runs in 5 matches and wicket keeper Liton Das comes in second with 370 runs in 5 matches. Only four batters have scored more than 300 runs this season with Tamim Iqbal being out due to a thumb injury.

 

In the bowling section, spinners have been leading the attack but no bowler has taken more than 25 wickets. Mehidy Hasan has taken 23 wickets in 5 matches while Taijul Islam has taken 20 wickets in 4 matches, as for the pacers Taskin Ahmed has taken 13 wickets as rest of the team has taken less than 8 wickets.

 

Pakistan will employ their bowlers into the pitch as they have been top class while Bangladesh batters have done better than their bowlers. The Pakistani batters are also in form and can prove to be a hurdle, Bangladesh has been on a losing streak since the ICC T20 World Cup as for Pakistan has been in form in batting and bowling. The first Test match begins tomorrow at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram while the second one is at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka where the T20s were placed. Bangladesh will try to turn the luck onto their side as it did not work out in the earlier matches.
