MI lose yet another IPL opener as Kuldeep Yadav leads DC to victory

(Cricket news) In the 2nd match of IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals squared off with Mumbai Indians. After Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first MI managed to score 177/5 in the 20 overs. Ishan Kishan anchored the innings with his unbeaten 81 off 48 balls. Rohit Sharma scored 41 while youngster Tilak Verma played a good little cameo of 22 runs. Kuldeep who had a very unpleasant time at Kolkata Knight Riders made his IPL comeback after a long time.

Yadav picked the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Anmolpreet Singh and Kieron Pollard in quick succession to turn the innings around. Khaleel Ahmed chipped in with two wickets while Shardul Thakur, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Axar Patel were on the expensive side. MI had a good start but after the 'Kuldeep Carnage' their batters failed to stick around with Ishan Kishan which slowed the rate down. Delhi came back well in the middle overs but were again expensive towards the end.

Chasing 178, Delhi were in a bit of trouble at 32 for 3 which soon became 72 for 5. Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel showed their batting prowess lower down the order while Lalit Yadav led the chase with his unbeaten 48 off 38 balls. DC ended up chasing the total with 10 balls to spare. Jasprit Bumrah had a rare off day where he missed his lines a little and was subsequently targeted by the batters. This the 10th time in a row that MI have lost the opening game in the IPL. Delhi's team is looking strong with a few players yet to join them.
