Mayank Agarwal replaces Ruturaj Gaikwad as India prepare 2nd T20I vs Sri Lanka

(Cricket news) India are eyeing another series win as they gear up for the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka. Ruturaj Gaikwad who was supposed to finally get his opportunity has been ruled out of the series due to wrist injury and Mayank Agarwal has been added to the squad. For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and Kusal Mendis have been ruled out after missing the first T20I.

India's possible playing XI:

Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Bench: Mayank Agarwal, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Avesh Khan

India is likely to play with the same team as they have no reason to make a change. The batting line-up being very flexible will rotate depending on the situation. Rain is forecasted throughout the day which is why having 7 bowling options is a very big asset.

Sri Lanka possible playing XI:

Pathum Nissanka, Danushka Gunathilaka, Charith Asalanka, Janith Liyanage, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Dasun Shanaka (c), Chamika Karunaratne, Jeffrey Vandersay, Praveen Jayawickrama, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kumara

Bench: Kamil Mishara, Janith Liyanage, Ashian Daniel, Shiran Fernando, Binura Fernando

Sri Lanka have a lot to improve on after a disappointing game in Lucknow. Skipper Shanaka's bowling changes were very questionable in the first game. Distributing Chameera's 4 overs is the most difficult task he will be facing. Not having Theekshana and Hasaranga is a big loss but the others will have to take more responsibility.

There is a possibility that we might not see any action today as rain is forecasted throughout the day. India are eyeing a series win to make it 3 in a row since the World Cup disappointment in UAE. India will be looking for a win so that they can give some other players an opportunity in the 3rd game and the players in the Test squad could be rested.
