KL Rahul set to return as India look for series win in the 2nd ODI

(Cricket news) KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and Navdeep Saini have joined Indian team training ahead of the 2nd ODI in Ahmedabad. India convincingly won the 1st and a similar performance would seal the series for them. West Indies on the other hand have to bat longer. The intent of their middle order batters in the last game was questionable.

India's Possible Playing XI:

Rohit Sharma(c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Surya Kumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Vice captain KL Rahul will return to the side, the only question is what position will he bat at. Rahul may open the batting again as both Surya Kumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda played good knocks in the last match. Shardul Thakur went wicketless in the last game and could be dropped for this one. Deepak Chahar is the like for like replacement but considering the amount of turn the pitch had to offer India may play a 3rd spinner in Kuldeep Yadav. Avesh Khan, Deepak Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi and Sharudl Thakur complete the bench.

West Indies possible playing XI:

Shai Hope(wk), Brandon King, Darren Bravo, Shamarah Brooks, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard(c), Jason Holder, Fabian Allen, Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hossein

It wouldn't be a surprise to see West Indies retain the same line-up as the combination of the team is good but the performance has to improve. Their bowling was good in the last game considering the short target India had to chase. The middle order in particular needs to stick around for a lot longer even if the runs come at a slower rate.

Weather & Pitch report:

As seen in the last game there was a lot of turn on offer which may tempt India to add another wrist spinner in addition to Chahal. It will be a sunny day with temperature around 25° C. The dew will affect the game more than the pitch itself as bowling will be very difficult in the 2nd innings which makes the toss very important. The captain that wins the toss will definitely be bowling first to then try and chase against the bowlers who will be troubled by the dew. India are clear favourites but West Indies will look to come back strongly. India needs to capitalise on the game and not let this one slip.
