Killer Miller leads GT to incredible run chase against CSK

(Cricket news) Gujarat Titans defeated Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets with 1 ball to spare in a thrilling run chase. Hardik Pandya didn't take the field as he had a stiffness. Rashid Khan captained the side as Alzarri Joseph replaced Pandya. Wriddhiman Saha for Matthew Wade was the other change. CSK on the other hand retained the same playing XI. GT won the toss and unsurprisingly elected to bowl first.

CSK put 169 runs on the board in the first innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad finally got his touch back as he scored 73 off 48 balls hitting 5 fours and 5 sixes. He got good support from Ambati Rayudu who hit 4 boundaries and 2 maximus in his 31 ball 46. Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja produced a few fireworks towards the end of the innings. Mohammed Shami and Yash Dayal picked up a wicket each while Alzarri Joseph got 2 scalps. Lockie Ferguson proved to be very expensive as he conceded 46 runs in his four overs. Gaikwad's return to form is great news for the CSK camp who will be hoping that it's not too late.

Chasing 170 runs, GT were in deep trouble at 16 for 3. David Miller rolled back the years by scoring 94 off just 51 balls to lead Gujarat to an incredible win. Miller hit 8 boundaries and 6 maximums in his innings. He received incredible support from standing captain Rashid Khan who took just 21 balls to score 40 runs. Dwayne Bravo was the pick of the bowlers as his 3/23 took the game deep. Mahesh Theekshana picked up two wickets while Ravindra Jadeja and Mukesh Choudhary got a scalp each. Chris Jordan had a very difficult day as he conceded 58 runs in his 3.5 overs. The Englishman may have to be dropped in the next game after some poor performances.

Both the new franchisees are performing really well. The fact that GT won the match without their in-form captain Hardik Pandya is a very big statement. CSK have now lost 5 out of their 6 games and their next game is against Mumbai Indians who have lost all 6 games so far. CSK may be forced to change their combination as their two overseas players Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan are not performing up to standard.
