Bairstow and David Warner had given the proceedings a solid start. SRH ended the power play at the score of 57/0. However, Bairstow's explosive innings of 43 off 22 came to an upsetting end when he got hit wicket. Hyderabad were still in a strong position but Manish Pandey's dismissal off Chahar in the following over saw the Sunrisers batting implode.

All the hopes were pinned on Warner's shoulders as he further built his innings, however a direct hit from the covers by Hardik sent him back to the pavilion. Vijay Shankar did put up a small fight but Sunrisers middle-order suderrended once again.

Earlier, MI too got a great start with openers Rohit Sharam and Quinton de Kock taking the power play score to 53/0 leaving the fans yearning for a big total. However despite having power hitters in their side, the MI struggled after the ball began to grip on the surface. Rohit gave his innings an aggressive start hitting Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s deliveries over the fence. The MI skipper got dismissed to Vijay after adding 32 off 25.

Suryakumar Yadav hit an exhilarating four over extra cover against Shankar but handed the next ball straight back to the bowler. As MI struggled, the responsibility of setting a good target relied on de Kock as the left hander was well set and looked in great touch with some cheeky boundaries. But the protea, after posting 40 off 39 was sent packing by Mujeeb, who ended his day with the figures of 2/29.

Rashid Khan yet again helped SRH slow down the opposition's proceedings. Nevertheless, MI stalwart Kieron Pollard's unbeaten 22-ball 35 guided his side to a respectable total. MI, from 53 for no loss after power play, creeped their way  to 133/5 after 19 overs. However, Pollard's successive sixes in the final over made the difference for MI.
