IPL 2021 – Five players Rajasthan Royals can opt for in the loan window

Amidst all the controversies surrounding the 14th edition of IPL so far, player exodus remains at the top spot. The worst hit being the champions of the inaugural season of the IPL – the Rajasthan Royals. With injuries to key players such as Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer coupled with the decision of Liam Livingstone and Andrew Tye to fly back home owing to the surge in the COVID 19 cases in the country, have added to their miseries and it is showing in their performances too.

With the IPL loan window for the ongoing edition opening on Monday, Rajasthan Royals will seek to sign players on loan from other franchises to fill the void left by players who have pulled out of the tournament owing to injuries or COVID situations.

Here we look at 5 players the Rajasthan Royals can opt for in the loan window :

1. Jason Roy – Currently with the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad, Roy seems unlikely to get a chance given the star studded reserve of overseas players the Orange army boasts of. With the Rajasthan Royals, Roy could be an opening alternative if Jos Buttler's poor form continues. In that case RR captain Sanju Samson can demote him to the middle order like last season.

2. Piyush Chawla – Presently seen in the Mumbai Indians dugout, the experienced Indian leg spinner has brilliant numbers to his name in the IPL. The right arm spinner enjoys third position in the list of all time leading wicket takers of the IPL with 156 wickets in 164 games. However, chances are slim that he may get a game for MI as both Rahul Chahar & Jayant Yadav are doing well for the boys in blue whereas RR's spinners have been quite disappointing. The Royals can opt for Chawla who can add sharpness to their bowling attack with his experience.

3. Aditya Tare – Another player from MI, Tare is a talented wicket keeper batsman who is MI's third alternative after de Kock & Ishan Kishan. While in RR, he can make a great opener as Manan Vohra has been failing to give the Royals a solid start on the top.

4. Ishan Porel – Currently signed up with Punjab Kings, the 22 year old pacer who plays for Bengal in domestic cricket has been brilliant in his short career so far. Porel has claimed 29 wickets at an impressive average of 15.82 in 29 T20s. The talented youngster who has been good with his seam and swing in domestic circuit can definitely be a great addition for RR.

5. Kuldeep Yadav – The 26 year old talented Indian off spinner is currently a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders and could be another good catch for the Royals. Yadav hasn't played a single game in this edition yet and he might not even get a game in the rest of the tournament as both Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine have been impressive so far.
