The Sri Lanka versus India series has seen many new young cricketers attempting to make a mark on the national team. With debutants on both sides, it was a sight to watch as the young players marched onto the field. The only experienced player is the Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan who has led the side brilliantly and also scored runs consistently. Suryakumar Yadav, Nitish Rana, Krishnappa Gowtham, Rahul Chahar, Chetan Sakariya, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson all made their One day debut in the series. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar have performed well in the series with the bat.

In cricket news, the first T20 saw India beat Sri Lanka by 38 runs. Shikhar Dhawan led the attack scoring 46, Suryakumar Yadav top scored with a half century and the final score read 164 for 5. The Sri Lankan batting lineup saw only two players scoring above 20, Charith Asalanka top scored with 44 runs. Bhuvanesh Kumar bowled exceptionally well taking 4 wickets and conceding only 22 runs, Varun Chakravarthy made his debut in T20 and also got a wicket.
