India whitewash England to give Jhulan Goswami a perfect send off

(Cricket news) India whitewashed England in the ODI series to give a befitting send off to one of the all time greats Jhulan Goswami. The series win was India's first on English soil since 1999. The ending was a controversial one with Deepti Sharma running out Charlie Dean at non striker end. It was an excellent series for the women in blue as they played some really amazing cricket in all the 3 matches. England were missing 3 key players but the Indians looked very impressive with both bat and ball while the fielding wasn't bad either.

Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front as she bagged the player of the series award. The Indian skipper scored 221 in 3 innings including two unbeaten knocks. This was Harmanpreet Kaur's 2nd Player of the Series award in her 2nd series as full time ODI captain. Her deputy Smriti Mandhana also batted well to give India good starts. Yastika Bhatia, Harleen Deol and Deepti Sharma also contributed well with the bat. Shafali Verma's run drought continued as she failed to make an impact on this tour. The opener is still young with heaps of  talent and will definitely bounce back sooner rather than later.

Jhulan Goswami picked up 3 wickets in her final international series while her heir Renuka Singh Thakur was the highest wicket taker with 8 wickets despite playing just two matches. Deepti Sharma was clinical as always as was Rajeshwari Gayakwad. Dayalan Hemalatha and Harleen Deol also provided some great support to the bowling department and picked up a few wickets. Goswami is going to be a big miss but there are people in this squad who are capable of leading the bowling department for years to come.
