India dismantle Zimbabwe to win by 10 wickets in the 1st ODI

(Cricket news) India won the 1st ODI against Zimbabwe comfortably by 10 wickets. Deepak Chahar and KL Rahul both made their international return after injury even though Rahul didn't get a chance to bat. Kuldeep Yadav was also brought back into the side. Ishan Kishan finally got an opportunity to play as did Sanju Samson. Despite an excellent performance in the West Indies series, Shardul Thakur was left on the bench. KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Deepak Chahar started things for India and it clearly showed that he was returning after a long term injury. His rhythm was a little off especially in the run-up. He was getting some swing but wasn't consistent enough. He did comeback really well and picked up 3 wickets for just 27 runs in his 7 overs. Mohammed Siraj on the other hand was on point from the very beginning as he finished with the figures of 1/36 in 8 overs. Prasidh Krishna and Axar Patel were the pick of the bowlers as they got 3 scalps each. Kuldeep Yadav on the other hand went wicketless despite bowling 10 overs. Skipper Regis Chakabva, Brad Evans and Richard Ngarava played decent cameos but none of them managed to get a big score as the home side was bowled out for 189.

India chased down 189 runs without losing a wicket. Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill opened the batting ahead of KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. Gill scored 82 runs off just 72 balls which was his 3rd fifty in his last 4 ODI matches. Dhawan got 81 off 113 to continue his dominance in the ODI format. Even though India played some really good cricket, Zimbabwe will be very disappointed with their overall performance. India could seal the series in the next match or Zimbabwe could get a historic victory.
