India aim for series win against South Africa in Guwahati

(Cricket news) After comfortably winning the 1st T20I by 8 wickets, India take on South Africa in the 2nd ODI at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. This is the penultimate match India will play before travelling to Australia for the World Cup. India's bowling performance was immaculate in the 1st match but conditions will be very different this time around. It looks very unlikely that the teams will make any changes in their playing XI. India have lost Jasprit Bumrah to back injury and he has been replaced by Mohammed Siraj in the squad.

India possible playing XI:

Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Arshdeep Singh

Bench:

Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shahbaz Ahmed, Umesh Yadav

India have been handed a big blow with the injury to Jasprit Bumrah. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has stated that Bumrah hasn't been ruled out of the World Cup yet as there is still time but that is likely to happen. Mohammed Siraj has been added to the squad but India are likely to continue with the same playing XI. There is a slight chance that Yuzvendra Chahal comes back into the side but Ashwin hasn't done anything wrong to miss out. All eyes will be on Harshal Patel as he showed a glimpse of his class in the last match but is yet to get back to his best ever since returning from injury.

South Africa possible playing XI:

Quinton de Kock (wk), Temba Bavuma (c), Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi

Bench:

Dwaine Pretorius, Reeza Hendricks, Lungi Ngidi, Heinrich Klaasen

The Proteas will definitely not want to rush into things and make loads of changes after losing one match. Skipper Temba Bavuma is under immense pressure to score runs. While Bavuma was absent due to injury, Reeza Hendricks was in great form and now that Bavuma is back Hendricks had to miss out. South Africa's batting has to improve and Bavuma will have to lead from the front. The bowling isn't an issue as of yet but once again a lot will depend on the toss.
