Here’s why the return of Kul-Cha is more complicated than it seems at this point

(Cricket news) When BCCI announced India's squad for the 3-match ODI series, there was a lot of talking points like the dropping of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin; the return of Washington Sundar and the maiden call-ups of Deepak Hooda and Ravi Bishnoi.

The major talking point was the return of Kuldeep Yadav. Fans and experts were all excited to see Kuldeep back after his injury. The term Kul-Cha was back on everyone's keyboards but can Kul-Cha actually make a return immediately or is it not possible. When Kulcha was in full flow, India played a combination of 6 batters, 2 seamers, fast bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya and the two wrist spinners. Back then Kedar Jadhav was the 6th bowling option.

Now India do not have a fast bowling all-rounder as Hardik Pandya isn't on the international scene anymore and won't be for a while. India's premium all-rounder is Ravindra Jadeja who is a spinner. Jadeja's incredible form makes him undroppable which means India has to go for 3 seamers. That leaves only one place for a wrist spinner which will be taken by one of Chahal, Kuldeep and Bishnoi. Currently Jadeja is injured and it is likely that Washington Sundar will take his spot. There are a few ways that KulCha could return but all of them have a certain risk factor. Here are 2 such ways it could be done:

1) Play 3 spinners and 2 seamers:

The simple solution is to play 3 spinners which is incredibly risky to say the least. Especially when team India lacks a good 6th bowling option. Playing a spin bowling all-rounder who will bat at number 7 along with Kuldeep and Chahal is an option which Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma won't be too keen on using unless the pitch is a rank turner.

2) Push Jadeja up the order and play 5 other pure bowlers:

This is an interesting one because Jadeja is very capable with the bat and could easily play at number 6 as a pure batter which will give India an option of playing 5 other bowlers which will give them 3 spinners and 3 seamers as bowling options. The issue is that Jadeja is not a 6th bowler, he is a pure bowler who will bowl 10 overs, so India will be giving up a batting spot to a bowler which wouldn't make much sense as the tail would be very long.
