Centurions so far in 14th edition of the Indian Premier League

(Cricket news) The Indian Premier League only has nine more days left and all the teams are left with one match to play other than Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Seven batters have scored four hundred runs or more this season so far and there have been four centuries. Rajasthan Royals batters have scored two of them and are the only team to do it twice this season. Out of the four centuries, two have come against Rajasthan Royals.

Sanju Samson: 119 off 63 balls versus Punjab Kings, (12 fours and 7 sixes)

Sanju Samson scored the first century of the season and his third overall in outrageous fashion as he almost took his team to victory in a high scoring match where both the teams scored more than 200 runs. Samson opened the batting with Manan Vohra as Rajasthan Royals started the chase with raining boundaries as he reached his half century in 32 balls and in the next 22 balls reached the three figure mark. With five needed off the last ball, Samson hit the ball which seemed to go over the ropes but Deppak Hooda had to move a bit as it landed safely on his hands.

Devdutt Padikkal: 101* off 52 balls versus Rajasthan Royals, (11 fours and 6 sixes)

One of the finest batting performances this season saw Royal Challengers Bangalore chase 177 without losing a wicket as the openers finished the job with three overs to spare. Devdutt used power and flair to outplay the Rajasthan bowlers as he reached his century in 51 balls which is the fastest this season so far. He was well supported by Virat Kohli who played a steady innings to guide his team to victory.  Devdutt is the only left hander who has hit a century this season.

Jos Butler: 124 off 64 balls versus Sunrisers Hyderabad, (11 fours and 8 sixes)

The only century by an overseas player this season so far, Jos Butler played a well balanced innings for Rajasthan which saw him reaching his half century in thirty nine balls and slowly increased his strike rate to reach the hundred in 56 balls. He continued to take the team forward as it crossed the 200 run mark and finally got out in the final ball of the 19th over as he scored 124 runs which is the highest score in this season.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, 101* off 60 balls versus Rajasthan Royals, ( 9 fours and 5 sixes)

Ruturaj has scored the first and so far the only century in the second phase of the IPL in UAE. Even though he has scored the slowest century this season, he was the only batter to score more than 30 balls for Chennai Super Kings in the match. He played a patient innings as the batters were falling from the other end but Ruturaj did not fall prey to the bowlers unlike his team mates. He reached his fifty in 43 balls and scored his next fifty in 17 balls as he reached his century on the final ball with a 108 metre six to complete a well deserved and matured innings.
