BCCIs might grow, worth a staggering 14,489 cr

The richest Cricket board of the world, the BCCI was worth a whopping ₹ 14, 489.80 crore at the end of the financial year 2018-19 as it added ₹ 2,597.19 crore in its pockets, as per the latest balance sheets available, as reported by IANS. The 2018 IPL edition itself earned the BCCI ₹ 2,407.46 crore of the total ‘income’ of ₹ 4,017.11 crore it made that year. This is as per the balance sheets that are still not in the public domain . The accounts of 2019-20 are not ready yet. It’s second biggest income in 2018-19, ₹ 828 crore was from the grant of media rights of the Indian team. While it’s expenditure was ₹ 1,592.12 crore that year. The BCCI first touched 8,000 crore mark in 2016-17 when it’s total worth reached ₹ 8,431.86 crore. The tally rose to 11,892.61 crore in the very next year as it added a mammoth ₹ 3,460.75 crore in just one year (2017-18) BCCI’s net worth constitutes its bank balance, fixed deposits and fixed assets. Other than IPL, the other prime sources of income in 2018-19, in accordance to the balance sheets were team India (men’s) International tours and series hosted in India which was a mighty ₹ 446.26 crore, interest from banks that is ₹ 290.73 crore and the income from ICC/Asian Cricket Council of ₹ 25.03 crore The BCCI’s earnings have seen a sharp growth over the past few years thanks to the sale of the rights of Indian team. STAR India, BCCI’s broadcast rights holder pays ₹ 43.20 per International match played in India along with the IPL rights after their unprecedented bid of ₹ 16,347.50 crore for the years 2019-2022.
