(Football news) Barcelona had a very eventful summer transfer window where they signed 7 players. In the winter window they have been pretty quiet and it is expected to be the same way. Xavi has always maintained that he is happy with the squad but at the same time he doesn’t know what is going to happen with one particular player. That player is Memphis Depay who has been struggling for game time this season. The Dutch striker was linked with a move away in the summer as well but it didn’t materialize. It is pretty clear that now he is surplus to needs at Barcelona. Depay’s contract ends in June but he may want to leave in January itself.

According to reports, Atletico Madrid want Depay as a replacement for Joao Felix who has joined Chelsea. Depay’s quality has never been in question and he could still be of service at a club like Atletico Madrid. The transfer is likely to cost Atletico Madrid no money as Barcelona will be prepared to terminate Depay’s contract. In a transfer merry go round, Barcelona could go for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Chelsea signed the striker back in the summer but it hasn’t worked out for him and now with the arrival of Felix, his game time might hit a new low.

Aubameyang had 6 decent months at Barcelona last season but after the Blaugrana signed Lewandowski, he was shipped off. According to FIFA rules the former Arsenal captain cannot play for any other club. Reports in Spain claim that Barcelona will be open to the arrival of Aubameyang but only if he comes for free. Aubameyang’s contract with Chelsea runs till 2024, so it is difficult to see him go for free. The two clubs could come to a solution with some kind of a loan deal but it will be complicated.
