Jess Duffin has re-signed for Melbourne Renegades ahead of WBBL|07

Jess Duffin returns to Melbourne Renegades for Women’s Big Bash League after missing the 2020 tournament following the birth of her first child. The Melbourne Renegades have certainly added more firepower to their WBBL batting stocks with the return of former captain Jess Duffin. As per the latest cricket news, she has re-signed with the club for WBBL|07.

She is a proven scorer with the ability to score quickly when needed. In the 2019 edition of the WBBL, she was the third-highest run-scorer with 544 runs at an average of 68.

The 32-year-old said she was pleased to be back in red. “I’m really pleased to have signed with the Renegades again for the WBBL. I’m really grateful to the club for their support last year when I needed to focus on my family. While I was watching closely from home, I’ve certainly missed the team, the environment and the energy in the group and look forward to being back around that again,” Duffin said.

“Not only that, I’m really confident that I can make a contribution to the group. With our new captain Sophie Molineux and coach Simon Helmot, I’m looking forward to the preparations and getting our campaign off to a winning start in October as we push for the finals.”

Melbourne Renegades WBBL Head Coach Simon Helmot said Duffin brought a number of skills to the group. “Jess brings so much experience, a cool head and great leadership to our group overall,” Helmot said.

“T20 cricket is all about moments and Jess’s career has been all about making the most of those moments at the highest level. You only have to look back to 2019 when Jess made 50 off 27 balls to help us chase down 184 against the Brisbane Heat. I know she’ll also be a great support to Sophie Molineux as she takes over the captaincy.”
