Indian rowing team out of medal race in Tokyo

(Rowing news) Olympics 2021 Live Update: Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh in Lightweight Men's Double Sculls finished 6th in the Semifinal A/B 1 with a timing of 6:24.41 in the Tokyo Olympics. They had to finish in the top three to make it to the finals. O'Donovan and McCarthy of Ireland finished first as they bettered the Olympic mark and the World mark by recording a spectacular 6:05.33. Earlier in the Semifinals, A/B 1 Jonathan Rommelmann and Jason Osborne of Germany bettered the Olympic time of 6:10.99 set in Beijing 2008 by Britain as they finished in 6:07.33.

The Indians will look to finish top in the Final B race tomorrow. The pair had earlier become the first Indians in double sculls pair to qualify for the semifinals and were looking to create another milestone. With this result, India has ended their medal hopes in rowing as they were the lone competitors and will hope to go the distance next time.
