Here’s everything you need to know about UFC Vegas 25

UFC Fight Night Reyes vs Prochazka aka UFC Vegas 25 is stylistically a brilliant match-up for the purist fans of MMA. Not only is this fight technically sound, but it has all the ingredients of being a Fight of the Night from the time it was announced.

Let’s have a look at the entire main fight card below:

The three fights I would like to immediately look at would be Cutelaba vs Jacoby, Swanson vs Chikadze and Reyes vs Prochazka.

Let's look at the first Light Heavyweight (205 lbs) bout on the main card between Moldova's Ion Cutelaba and Dustin Jacoby.

Cutelaba was originally slated to face Devin Clark at this event before Clark sustained an injury. The UFC was quick to announce a replacement and in steps Jacoby.

33 year old Jacoby has had a history of being in and out of promotions. His first stint with the UFC was in 2011. Losing his first 2 fights saw him being cut from the promotion. Jacoby then went on to fight in the World Series of Fighting to Bellator and resigned with the UFC in 2020. Jacoby is currently riding a 4 fight win streak and is looking to make a statement in the Light Heavyweight division.

Standing across from Jacoby is UFC’s first Maldovan fighter Ion Cutelaba. Cutelaba, known for his controversial stoppage against Magomed Ankalev and his rematch loss; has a chance to revive his stature in the UFC brass with this fight.

Being on a 2 fight skid, both losses coming as stoppages in Round 1 makes this a do or die fight for Cutelaba.

Will Cutelaba reign? Or fall to the powerful Jacoby?

Crystal Ball Prediction: Cutelaba gets his hand raised.

The co-main event between UFC veteran Cub Swanson and Giga Chikadze is a classic match-up between the old guard and the new crop.

38 fight JacksonWink veteran Cub Swanson is looking to revive his career after the 4 consecutive losses he bore between 2017 and 2019. It almost seemed the UFC were looking to release him off his contract till he beat rising star Kron Gracie. At 37 and a 2 fight win streak, Swanson wants his name off the gatekeepers list and is looking to show why the old guard experience is worth much more than just young blood.

However, it is standing across Georgia’s Giga Chikadze. Currently on a 7 fight win streak (5-0 in the UFC) and unbeaten in the UFC, Giga is looking to put his skills to the test with his coach Rafael Cordeiro in the corner guiding him through the path.
Overall a brilliant co-main event.

Crystal Ball Prediction: Cub Swanson gets his hand raised.

And now… to the Main Event of the evening.

Dominick Reyes takes on former Rizin Light Heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka.

Unorthodox Prochazka had a dynamite debut in the UFC when he knocked out Volkan Oezdemir in a gripping to and fro fight. Skyleaping Prochazka to the top league, the UFC matched him versus the very dangerous Dominick Reyes.

Reyes is coming off 2 back to back title contendership losses. The first versus Jon Jones, which many claim was won by Reyes.

The second versus Jan Blachowicz where Reyes got knocked out cold.

Reyes comes into this fight with experience, better grappling and a sick left straight.

Prochazka comes in with his unorthodox fighting style, better reach, incredible knockout power and a 11 win fight streak.

At 27-3-1, Prochazka comes in with the fight experience. Reyes comes in with championship experience and the familiarity of being on the big stage in the octagon.

Will Reyes reign supreme? Or will Prochazka display a masterclass of his experience.

Crystal Ball Prediction: Reyes gets his hand raised.
