Can two time defending champions Mumbai Indians make it three in a row?

(Cricket news) Mumbai Indians have been one of the top teams in the IPL with five titles to their name and in the past few years have been known to comeback from the brink. They are currently placed fourth in the points table having won four matches out of seven and still have seven matches to play in UAE. They will be looking to be the first team to win the title three consecutive times and have the capability to do it.

Rohit Sharma is leading the team, he is the highest run getter for India in Tests this year and has already established his name in the shorter formats. Their bowling is led by Jasprit Bumrah who has been quite efficient with his yorkers and speed especially at the death overs. Trent Boult is also quite lethal, Rahul Chahar has been performing well and Piyush Chawla comes with a lot of experience playing in the IPL. Krunal Pandya can also give Chawla company in spin and both of them can play attacking shots too.

The batting is led by the captain hitman along with Hardik Pandya, big hitter Kieron Pollard, Ishan Kishan who recently made his debut for team India just like Suryakumar Yadav and Chris Lynn. Wicket keeper batsman Quinton De Kock is also a young explosive player who gets right off the blocks and is a regular opener for the team. Pandya has lately been out of form and will look to get it together before the start of the T20 World Cup, Pollard is one of the most experienced players in the T20 format and will look to continue his CPL form.

They have eight points as of now and are just below Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians are always up for an entertaining show. They have the top bowlers and batsmen in their side, Rohit has been the top scorer in the team as Rahul Chahar has been on fire with the ball. Even though only one half of the league has been completed, fireworks are for sure from the Mumbai Indians as Pollard and Pandya have the ability to take the team from bottom to the top. As for the bowlers Bumrah and Boult can restrict the batsmen from scoring even in the final overs.

Ishan and Suryakumar Yadav performed admirably well in their national debut against Sri Lanka, they will look to take the team to the top as they will also look to seal their place in the national team. Arjun Tendulkar has also been included in the team and might get a chance to play with the rest. Dhawal Kulkarni has only played a single match this season, he had some great seasons with Rajasthan Royals with the ball and Saurabh Tiwary who is yet to play a match this season. Mumbai Indians will play their opening match against arch rivals Chennai Super Kings on 19th September.
