Bangladesh record first series victory over New Zealand in T20

(Cricket news): Bangladesh won its first ever T20 series against New Zealand as they secured a victory in the fourth T20. The five match series ends tomorrow with Bangladesh having already secured a 3-1 lead. New Zealand had secured a huge victory in the previous match but Bangladesh made sure the same result did not occur this time.

Will Young top scored from the New Zealand side with a patient knock of 46 as he tried to hold the batting line up but Nasum Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman ripped apart the Kiwis. Both of them took 4 wickets each as they bowled a tight spell to restrict the kiwis to 93. Nasum Ahmed even bowled 2 maidens and only gave away 10 runs as the New Zealand side struggled to score against the Bangladesh side. Only three batsmen reached the double digit mark from the New Zealand side.

The Bangladesh side then was led to a historic victory by captain Mahmudullah as he scored 43 to finish off the game. Mahmudullah has the second most runs in T20 runs this year for Bangladesh as Mustafizur Rahman has led the bowling department. The Bangladesh side looks to perform well in the T20 World Cup, they will also look to finish high for the first time in an ICC tournament.

The New Zealand side although does not have the World Cup squad in it will look to win the last match as the hosts have looked strong in the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The fifth and final T20 will be played tomorrow. Tom Latham has led the second string side well as most of the players have only played a handful of matches whereas the Bangladesh team is playing their main side. Ajaz Patel has been a star performer in this series and is the joint top wicket taker along with Mustafizur Rahman with 8 wickets. Patel has only played 6 T20s so far in his career and has already shown skill and technique in his bowling, the left arm spinner will look to end the series on a positive note.
